bumppp 10char

Very impressive list, but those one week courses at those at ivies seem out of place. You list impressive leadership positions and then blam, you list some classes you took at prestigious schools. In my experience, unless you are willing to write about your experiences in these classes then they are not worth mentioning. Same goes for honor role. At the highly selective schools you are trying to apply too, being on honor role is almost requirement.

i was hoping to connect alternative energy engineering w/ eco club and volunteering

and i wanted to connect cornell and my achievements and with varsity golf

and then i was hoping to connect penn state and georgetown with my leadership and interest in FBLA and business …

is that too hard to see ?

actually… after much debating and thinking, i think i may just ED carnegie mellon Tepper.

I don’t want to be over my head, and that b-school is top 10, which is super solid.

I’m still a junior and i still have time to decide, but what would my chances at ED Tepper be?

My daddy went to Tepper!

hey thanks for the reply… i don’t think i can make the ivies… kinda just gave up lol.

The GPA i put up there ^ is just assuming the worst case during my junior year. Right now, if i continue my grades for junior year, ill have a 3.86 UW and a 4.48 W

bumppp 10char

sounds like a bit of a stretch to me

bumpppppppp

thanks for bumping? 0.o

i guess you can think of it as a stretch, but they are related in some way or another. Which, imo, is better than having random activities.

I think you will get atleast one Ivy and a majority of the no ivys. Of that list you can piratically guarantee admittance into UMich, BC, UNC. Your stats are upper 25% for all of them.

Okay update:

Another decent EC: raised over $4,000 for Japan through organizing the school making paper cranes and sending them to an organization.

Update on Schools:
ED1: Columbia Engineering (Financial Engineering)
EA: U Chic, MIT, Caltech, Notre Dame, UVA, UNC Chapel Hill, U Mich (Economics/Business for these schools)
ED2: CMU (Tepper Business)

If all that fails
RD: Georgetown, Boston College, Northwestern, NYU Stern, Duke, UC Berkeley, Rutgers

And if any1 else can suggest any schools that have good economics/business undergraduate programs, please tell me! =D

Do you take a class called: “The logistics of getting accepted into top tier colleges”?

Because I feel like you do… especially with that overthought connection thing you were saying… i honestly don’t think you can make an admissions person see that or make them care. GPA isn’t even that bad seeing as all schools do it differently…

Raise your UWGPA.

Study hard for SAT Subject tests to get 750+

Try to raise SAT Score (or try ACT)

Apply to many EA schools (Start your essays early)

Apply to many schools: College admission is very unforgiving for Asian males

20more i saw your posts about asian males being disadvantaged in the college admissions. It is true that it is tougher to get into colleges being an asian male, but I have some asian male friends that get into top tier schools and ivies although they weren’t perfect. Maybe those who had a perfect academic record had bad essays or interview?

I’m done with the SAT, a 1500/2210 , imo, is solid enough to get into 95% of schools. And I feel SAT II’s aren’t as a big of a deal as most people say they are… I mean if you score decent 720+ on it… it shows you have a very solid foundation in that subject right?

Maybe i’m not “asian” enough … but maybe i’m not as competitive as you haha. I realize college admissions will be tougher on me, so I think I will apply to as many schools as I can bear.
Which leads me to my main question…
What are my chances to get into those schools? lol
