So, I just took the ACT at the end of sophomore year and got a 29. This converts me to a 1360-1390 on the new SAT. My goal on the new sat, however, is a 1500+. Is this even possible with a 3 month study plan before October 1?
Does this plan sound good?
-do college panda math prep book (already bought)
-do college panda math practice tests (already bought)
-for writing, just do khan academy exercises (got 33 on English act)
-reading is where I have a dilemma: I may buy critical reader but I wish it had 1 or 2 full length practice tests on it. Also do reading on khan academy
-take the 4 official practice tests dispersed (1 July as diagnostic, 1 August, 2 September) ad try to build score up into 1500s.
Do u guys think I could even possibly get into the 1500s with only a 29 ACT or is it just not possible?
Also, what do u think of the books/study plan?
Yes you can absolutely get to a 1500. Your 29 isn’t a bad score and it doesn’t really tell you anything about your potential or “ceiling” on the SAT; it only tells you how well you did at the time you took THAT test. At the end of the day, SAT prep is about familiarizing yourself with the test and brushing up on any concepts/skills that need improvement. If you can put in 100-150 hours of solid SAT prep using the materials you mentioned above (I would recommend 90 minutes daily), you will likely reach your goal. There aren’t really any secrets to it or ways around it. Put in the time and you will see results.
Thank you so much for the advice.
Today, I did the reading section and got a 38/40. I did this from practice test 1 timed and i actually finished a bit early, which is something i could never do on the act reading. Tomorrow, I will do the writing section from practice test 1 and am i hoping for a 38-40 so i can get a 760-780 on this evidence based reading writing section.
Math I will do the sections monday and tuesday timed (only hoping for upper 600s first time) and then my college panda math book should be here friday so i can start working up.
Do you have any familiarity with the college panda books?
@UnboundedEdu
I would also recommend that you sit for a complete set of test (all 4 sections) all timed. That will give you more realistic experience. You may want to do it on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

Panning on doing it 3 times!
