Just wondering
Shouldn't juniors who have taken the NEW SAT be only required to take a minimum of two (instead of three) SAT II subject tests since Writing, a former subject test, is included on the new test?

Some colleges are allowing two now, but some still require three. I don't see the point of 3. I guess its another downside to the new SAT. If you want to be really competitive, take 3 for sure.

Definitely still take three to keep your options open because while some colleges will accept two, I think a lot more are sticking with the three test thing.

I don't know about all colleges, but at UVA, the dean of admissions told me that only two SAT II's are suggested, because the new SAT now has a writing portion. Furthermore, they said the SAT II's weren't necessary...but should be taken

Does anyone know for UCs??

And is Math IIC still required?

the UC's now only require two SATs of your choice, but they have to be in different disciplines, i.e., can't take just two histories.

Math IIC (renamed Math II) is strongly recommended for engineering programs...

I'm interested in becoming a History major...

so would taking Chinese and History and getting 800 on both of them be good for UCB or UCLA?

go to http://www.compassprep.com/admissions_req_subjects.aspx

it lays out which schools still require 3, which only require 2, which recommend but do not require, etc, and it gives the exact policy for each school (some require or don't accept certain subjects, like the UC's).

check out how some schools let you submit the ACT ALONE in place of both SAT and SAT II's. What's that about?
