New SAT vs. Old SAT

So i’m stuck in a very hard position. I have to choose whether to take the new SAT in March or the old SAT in December. The SAT in December will be the first SAT I will ever take. But It is only about a month away and I don’t feel prepared. I want to have a couple tries at the SAT. Im afraid I will do poorly on the Old test. My other choice I have is the new SAT in March. I will very prepared for this test, but I heard the math section will be common core math. Im an 11th grader taking 12th grade math so I missed the common core curriculum. I am very strong at math so I wonder if the “new” math will give me trouble.Thats my only con of taking the new SAT. I would like to see If you guys have any suggestions on what test I should take.
NEW SAT-Pros: time to prepare, can take multiple times. Cons: Common core math
OLD SAT-Pros: Non-common core math. Cons: unprepared, only can take 2 times

Try the old one, see how you do, and then try the new one too. You have nothing to lose (except for like $50).

@AnneKatherine Okay sounds good, but do I have to submit both the new and old sat scores to colleges? If I end up taking the new one as well.

yeah i am pretty sure you have to send both

@lolkar Can’t you just use score choice like always? I’m pretty sure you can. Plus most schools will only consider your best scores anyway.

I think there’s inevitably going to be a lot of confusion around the new SAT. My advice would be to try your best on both the old and new SAT. If you find that the new SAT is way harder for you, you can just send in your scores from the old SAT. If the opposite is true, you’ll have plenty of time to work on increasing your score on the new SAT once it comes out. I think you should be fine either way. Pretty much all schools, even the super selective ones, superscore and I’ve heard multiple admissions counselors say that if you send them both an old and new SAT score they’ll compare them and take the better score.

Thanks for the answers. Much Appreciated.
