have any of you guys taken the kaplan practice for the new SATs ?!

OH MAN THAT THING IS BRUTAL I TOOK IT YDAY LOL 4 HOURS OF TESTING MY GOSH MY BRAIN WAS GONNA EXPLODE !! jeez what was the school district thinking wen they came up with that ! 25 minutes essays ?! insane! i bet i did really poorly.. essays is my weakness out of everything :/

Seriously though...it's not that bad. It's cake compared to the 4 hr. AP test, in which most of that is essay writing. And, um, I find the essay to be the best part of the new SAT.

dutchie shut up if ur gonna be rude to everyone just dont say anything

its not that bad - its basically having the writing sat 2 on ur sat so...u would have had to take the writing sat 2 anyways...trust me u will be fine

lol yes i did mean 25 minutes is a short period of time to write an essay ! jeez :X and im not a guy ! lol i need tons of prepping for SAT's then, 25 minutes is too little of time i cant gather thoughts quick enough to write a good essay, i can barely write an essay in an hour :/

I think the essay is ridiculous. They're trying to make it less "discriminatory" or whatever, but how is it less unfair when you've got a kid on the south side of Chicago writing an essay to be graded by a teacher in Conneticuit. Or the other way around. Plus, don't they have a hard enough time finding graders for the AP tests? Who is going to want to volunteer to do that?

The essays on the APs are different, because the point is to show you know the information, not how "well" you write. I mean, you can say all this stuff about the current SAT II Writing, but less people take that test and it's not as important of a score as the SAT. I'd still rather take the SAT and the separate Writing test.

yea i would rather take the writing out of the new SAT and take it separately too :X if only i was a year older i wouldnt have to take the new SAT bummer
