New service academy forum

http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/

As a member of College Discussion, I have very much enjoyed my time here. However, the archaic form of forum software, combined with a lack of moderation of obscene threads, has prompted me to build my own service academy forum. The link is provided above (later it will point directly to forums).

Please PM Administrator on the forum if you have any problems, questions, concerns or suggestions.

Bumpity Bump

"The page cannot be displayed"

I think he said yesterday it would be down for a few hours on Saturday for maintenance.

Well it went down for more than a few hours.

This was not my planned maintenance (which occurred around 7:40 PM EST) but rather an unplanned server part failure.

For those of you reading this:

The RAID controller on the server (it runs in RAID-1 for redundancy) broke. The host has contacted a vendor and is waiting to receive the part (which they do not keep on hand, understandable) so they can put the server back up.

I very much apologize for this, as it is quite unusual to have servers go down like this (broken parts don't really happen that much) for these periods of time. Current down-time is approximately 12 hours. I would hope by the end of today they'll be back up and running.

Rest assured that this is, dare I say, the best hosting company on the internet, A Small Orange (www.asmallorange.com). So, while I'm disappointed that it's down, there's not much I can do.

If you can view this (I'll post this on the site later for bookmarking), here's the server status:

We're Desmond

We're back online!

Question for ya'll (southern for 'more than one')-

My son has looked online at USMA's website for the address and sample letter of where/what to send for a presidential/vice pres. nomination. The site is either down or hiding somewhere. Any help or suggestions?

Thank you!

Has he opened a file with USMA? If so, he'll be given an account which will have the vp nom as one of the 4 letters he can print out.

http://admissions.usma.edu/Prospectus/step_02b.cfm

Is this what you needed? Hope it helps! Good luck. Look towards the bottom of the page for the VP sample. Its a word document.

Jamzmom-

Thank you! Yes, it's exactly what we needed.

KateLewis-he was trying to, but one of the pages he needed to view beforehand was down for something (?). However, maybe tonight everything will be okay w/it.

Thank you!
