If you could tell us just a few more things it would help--

How many students are in your graduating class?

How many students from your school are accepted to Ivy league or other colleges in the US on a yearly basis? (and about how many of these actually attend)

What do you intend to write your essay on?

And what majors are you considering pursuing in college?

Did either of your parents go to college--and if so, was it at one of the colleges you listed above?

Thanks,

Princeton- Reach

thanks-ckmets13 :)

cal cruzer-
my graduating class is about 100...but still my school doesn't give out specific ranks

about 2 or 3 are accepted and attend ivy leagues / top schools, but when they apply, because we don't have applicants to the US every year

my essay- not really sure yet, I have various different drafts from which I'll choose my final essay

majors- math and economics

Both my parents went to college, but they did college here in costa rica. They did grad school in the states in some of the schools I mentioned, does that help?

Are you looking for financial aid? You seem to have a lot of safeties, quite a few reaches, and not much in between. Which is fine, it just depends on what you want, and your strategy. If you need aid, and if the safeties give aid to international students, it makes sense. Otherwise, I would change a little to have more matches- maybe Rice, Cornell, U of Rochester, Carnegie Mellon, Vanderbilt, NYU.

bump bump bump

bump bump please

ANSWER OneMom's question. if you need financial aid as an international, your chances at schools other than HYPM are VASTLY reduced.

your SAT I and SAT II math scores are too low for a math major. also, you show no significant strength in the sciences and math, so MIT is a super reach.

your EC is average for HYP: not enough leadership. they will not help you in, unless you write a heartfelt essay about one of your passions (volunteering?)

in all, 10% at MIT, 20% at Harvard, Princeton. 40% at UPenn.

financial aid...depends, not sure. If my grandparents pay for it no, if my parents have to then yes. It will all be decided before apps

Regarding the math thing...yeah I know. I suck at standardized testing in math, its always happened to me, not only with the SAT.But I'm taking IB math HL and I've done well (98) and I've been discussing with my teacher my future in math and he feels confident that I would do well.

Regarding ECs, will adcoms take into consideration that the avg. student in costa rica isn't involved in any EC? that just having a couple is way beyond normal ( I'm sure my GC will mention it in the recommendation letter)

bump ( 10 char)

will adcoms take into consideration that the avg. student in costa rica isn't involved in any EC?
a little bit
