With increasing gas prices and plane fares, the demand for quality bus travel is higher than ever for college students hoping to save some money. Florida Coach Connection, a purely college transportation service, has already answered the call in Gainesville at the University of Florida and is now offering bus services starting this week in Tallahassee for Florida State University students.

After only six weeks in Gainesville, Florida Coach Connection became a popular choice among students for bus travel, prompting the company to expand to Tallahassee where it hopes to have the same result.

"This is a company run by recent and current college students, whose aim is serving students' needs," said representative Anna Dilernia. "There is a need for reliable, low cost and safe transportation for FSU students."

Bus stops currently include Miami, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Gainesville and now Tallahassee. Florida Coach Connection also offers weekend trips such as New Orleans for Mardi Gras and Islands of Adventure in Orlando. There's even a Facebook group, "Florida's Official Mardi Gras Party Bus," taking advantage of $85 ticket prices, free food provided by CapitalCityFood.com (formerly NoleFood.com), and travelling to New Orleans for the festivities.

In addition, each bus is also equipped with restrooms, luxury seating, air conditioning, newly released movies and wireless internet connection with 110volt plug outlets so students' can check their e-mail or message a friend on Facebook while riding home.

This service is expected to be especially popular with Greek students and other campus organizations that travel often, particularly due to group rate discounts.

"This would make it a lot easier to plan trips for a large number of girls because we always run into problems like who would be driving and those sorts of things," said Alpha Delta Pi member Stephanie Hammersand.

Florida Coach Connection plans to expand their services in the coming months.

"We do what the students want," said Dilernia. "Currently we're considering adding additional cities to our weekly trips and allowing other colleges the opportunity to ride. Additional research is underway as to which cities are the most popular and at what times are most convenient to our customers."
