New Student Conference Registration

I registered for a New Student Conference 2 weeks ago and the only one available was the August 24-25 NSC. I was just wondering if I'm at a disadvantage. Since I'll be registering for my classes after most of the other freshman, will this basically mean that I won't get as good of a selection of professors and classes? Thanks in advance.

My friend told me that classes appear and disappear. A June session might show all the good English times/teachers full, but then in July new ones might show up. She said it was very, very strange.

At worst, you have a couple of early and/or late classes the first semester. Not TOO bad in the scheme of things.

No need to worry! They leave a certain amount of seats in the classes for each session. There will be plenty to choose from!

New NSC’s will be poppin’ up every now and then. But probably by this time, there will only be July NSC’s left that will be open.

I guess it depends on the school you’re going into, but I just rescheduled mien form August 24-25 to July 13-14, and there were a bunch of dates still open!

Available seats:
July 1-2: 48
July 6-7: 103
August 24-25: 11

Really? How’d you do that? I’m doing General Studies and it said the only available date was August 24-25.

After logging into Howdy and AIS, try this link:

https://www.oar.tamu.edu/nsc/Applicant/RegistrationSummary.aspx

I just clicked “reschedule” at the bottom.

Oh, and July 13-14 dates are probably open, they just didn’t show up for me as that’s the one I’m registered for.

Yeah I just checked. I clicked reschedule and it said no dates are available at this time and to check again later. Just a question where do they expect us to stay for the August conferences since they dont offer on-campus accommodation for the August NSCs?

That’s weird! Maybe the open seats are just for my major?

Anyways, there’s hotels in town you can stay in. I’m staying in one for my July NSC anyways, since the dorms they provide don’t really have anything but a mattress and furniture. It’d be a pain to bring pillows, sheets, etc.

Oh ok. That’s pretty cool. Thanks Schen

General Studies should have a lot of open dates. Check here for NSC dates: [New Student Conference Dates* | New Aggie](http://newaggie.tamu.edu/nsc/dates)

Thanks Xcellerator. Yeah I’ve checked out that page, but for some reason when I registered for the NSC on my AIS account it told me the only available date was August 24-25. I tried rescheduling but it told me the same thing. Maybe its coz Im an international student, I dont know. Thanks anyways guys.
