New student confrence

My nsc is on june 30 and i am accepted into PETE.
Would it make a difference if i reschedual it to august 23 or would i be able to still sign up for the "good" classes?

My NSC is in like 6 hours and I just got it. Lol. Most people told me slots will open up for each NSC. I’m hoping to begin upper division after a summer class and a few of the classes I need, on Howdy at least, show full. I’ll let you know if they open it up for me tomorrow…

as derekallen2009 said, slots open up each NSC, and if the class you want is closed or full, at the beginning of each semester is a “free” period where you’re free to add and drop classes as long as you meet any prereqs for that specific class. in short, you needn’t worry too much about a later registration time

Does anyone have any idea about how can an international student register for a NSC?

P.S. I got the offer on May, 07, which is after the deadline.

Just be a vulture on add/drop period and it won’t matter what happens at NSC.

For the B-School at least, I didn’t know the advisors and classes were going to be so flexible. I filled out an exemption form and I think I’ll actually begin upper level for Summer II. I was told if I absolutely needed a full course to just let them (my advisors) know…

Our experience so far with the current NSC has not been as hoped. Daughter needs one more low level course for her major - there are no slots left and nothing else opened up today. If she doesn’t get into that course, she can’t take the next in the series, nor anything else in her major for that matter. The advisors said they were not able to do anything about it. The only courses they could slot someone in above the limit were higher level courses which she can’t take until she finishes the other one. She will continue to check to see if things open throughout the summer but it is very strange and disappointing that something is not available for a required low level course in one’s major during their NSC. This will obviously slow down the march to the degree by a whole semester.

I’m glad to hear the business students are finding more flexibility that anticipated though.

Yeah, my experience today was not as easy as they made it sound. I got into MKTG because there were slots open. FINC doesn’t have a waitlist and noone can be forced in. MGMT was really flexible, so I was forced in. INFO, I’m on a waitlist. For the summer, some of the courses that were honors weren’t marked as honors so at the last minute plans changed. I’ll just have to watchout over the summer. I have to say though, the general review is that a few spots open up for each NSC…that was not the case today. For business students only one course had 5 slots open up. I’m not really shocked or disappointed though, it’s a huge public…take the good with the bad.

I agree derekallen - we take the good with the bad and thank goodness our good far outweighs any “bad”. It all works out in the end!

We are happy that NSC is over and the only thing left to do is show up on the first day of class!!!

The NSC wasn’t as stressful for me because I had the first one and registered in the first 5 seconds. However, I have had the last registration slot for every other registration period so far at my time at A&M. As aggieengineer said something will open up during add/drop week it always has and always will. I’ve always gotten the exact schedule I wanted by just checking the computer a few times a day during add drop week.

After going to a few offices today, I got both classes I wanted for the summer and two of the four for the fall. The other two I want, each have over 200 students, so I’d be willing to bet a few spots open up.
