Hi guys,

I just started community college and planning to transfer to cal or ucla for businessadmin/econ, but i'm confused about thee units needed. i'd ask my counselor, but he doesnt seem so confident in anything he says. rofl.

Admissions for Transfer Students, Undergraduate Program, Berkeley-Haas

Based on the link above, it says i need prerequisites and breadth classes. I understand what they are, but the prerequisites and breadth classes can combine to make 60 units, and I qualify right? Instead of 60 units of the ITGEC thing + prerequisites.

I always thought that I need 60 units of breadth classes and additional prerequisite courses, and I didnt find that to be possible to transfer in two years, lol. Hope you guys understand my question and sorry for not using any sentence structure or correct capitalization, haha.

Thanks in advance everyone!

I’m 99.9% sure that you just need 60 units which can include pre-reqs and breadth classes.

You need 60+ semester units completed by the time you transfer. Remember that you apply the fall before you want to transfer.

You should aim to finish IGETC and your major pre-reqs, if you can… unless assist.org specifically says not to do IGETC. If you miss a couple classes, you can still apply and might get in, but the more pre-reqs you complete the stronger your application will be.

By the way, you should also have a backup school in mind. UCB and UCLA are both great schools, but admissions are really unpredictable. So in case it doesn’t end in your favor, make sure you’ve got a plan B.

I would suggest making a list of all the classes you need, or which schools want what. You’ll find that some classes will kill two birds with one stone… that is, it’ll satisfy pre-reqs at multiple schools and IGETC requirements. It take a bit of work, but sit down and write it all out, make a chart, see if you can plan everything you think you need into two years of CC.
