New Student Convocation - Transfer?

Hey everyone,
I am a transfer student, coming in at my junior year. I have literally talked to five different people from the New Student Office. Each of those five people gave me a different answer about attending. Three told me it was mandatory to attend the New Student Convocation, and then two told me that transfer students do not have to attend. Enter my confusion!
I also understand that there is a reading plan, all of which I found out about today.
None of this was mentioned at Transfer Preview.
So...Do transfer students, coming in at their junior year, have to attend the New Student Convocation?
I am not Class of 2016, I'll be the class of 2014. Help, please!

**Also, I am a Journalism major.

Well…it probably isn’t necessary since you’re not an incoming freshman. But I would think that you would WANT to attend the new student convocation to learn how things work at UF.

The answer is no. New student convocation is not something that would really benefit you, as it isn’t an orientation but a celebration. They don’t take a meaningful attendance either.

Alright, thank you so much! I am so excited about becoming a Gator, so that, I get…I just didn’t know if the Convocation was mandatory.
