New stuff on app?

I just checked my app status and it has all this new stuff:

Level: Undergrad - Urbana-Champaign
Program: NONE: Undeclared -UIUC
Catalog Term: Fall 2011 - Urbana-Champaign
College: Division of General Studies
Campus: Urbana-Champaign
Major and Department: Undeclared, Div General Studies Admin

I applied for Engineering and I 100% knew I would get denied/defferred due to my GPA and placed into DGS, so wouldn't all this info being there mean that it was reviewed? If it wasn't reviewed, all of that would be listed as Engineering stuff.

I know they're not supposed to release decisions until the 17th, but I just thought I'd ask if anyone else has any new/interesting info on their app recently.

i also have the new info in my application, except it is the college i applied for. my application status still says Complete ready for review. does your status say the same?

mciasto samething happened to me. I applied to engineering, but now it says that same thing yours say

I do not have an application status row, Villzi. Data, Term, Type, Level, Program, Catalog Term, College, Campus, Major, Date Created are all the rows I have; aside from personal info above and requirements below.

NYxJon, were your stats good enough for Engineering? Or did you expect to be placed in DGS, like me? I don’t know if they changed all applicants to this or only ones that didn’t make their major?

I have no idea - just trying to see how many people’s changed.

Nothing on mine has changed. I applied to MatSE. I have the same (lack of) rows as mciasto.

My son’s application hasn’t changed. Still shows the engineering info and “complete and ready for review”. He’s not a slam dunk to get in to engineering, but has a good shot at it. It does sound like it would mean something if they changed your info from engineering to general studies. I guess we’ll find out in a week. Good luck!

I still have:

Admission Term: Fall 2011 - Urbana-Champaign
Admission Type: Priority Admission
Level: Undergrad - Urbana-Champaign
Program: BS:Computer Science -UIUC
Catalog Term: Fall 2011 - Urbana-Champaign
College: Engineering
Campus: Urbana-Champaign
Major and Department: Computer Science, Computer Science

I applied to Bioengineering and knew I probably wouldn’t get in.
I listed MatSE as my second.

A few days ago it still said Bioengineering.
Now it says MatSE.

What it says matches my stats. I am good enough for engineering but not good enough for Bioengineering.

uncannycrayon, do you also not have an application status row?

No status row, no decision row.

Strange, I wonder if those are decisions in disguise?

I hope so. I’d be perfectly happy with DGS, haha.

Mine still says LAS Actuarial Science, I’m hoping thats some good sign even though it’s probably nothing. Crazy how minute things dealing with your college admission mean so much haha

Well, I can understand it wouldn’t mean so much if this isn’t your top choice, but for people who can’t afford top out of state schools and have so much riding on this one school, the smallest things can make a difference.

These are almost definitely decisions.

@deposition
Even though they are almost definately decisions, its hard to say if you are accepted or not if your division didn’t change to something else. I had CompSci all along and I still have CompSci but I have no idea if I am accepted.

The ones turning into another division gives a clue but having the same thing there all along just means you are accepted or denied.

There is nothing else to do other than waiting.

Ya I know what you mean. I’m from out of state and Illinois is my top choice. Love everything except for the $$$$$$

@OMGMIT
Technically you’re right, but if your stats are good and you’re pretty sure that you’d at least get into general studies, and your status didn’t change, it’s likely that you will be accepted.

If they interpret my GPA right, I am sure that I will be accepted to CompSci. The fact that I am an international makes it really hard for me to guess if they understand our GPA scale.

I got 1970/2400 SAT (1390/1600) and 70/100 GPA (4/5)

I am an IB student and I have 4-5 courses which are equivalent to AP classes and this is stated in my transcript.

I also think that I have impressive ECs: a patented encryption method, two software which are being used by over 10000 people every day etc.

So, I hope you are right. :)

I usually try to avoid commenting on the entries they make just before decisons are released but since this appears to be an annual issue, you can assume the following: those who have seen a change in their status from their original major to another such as a different one in engineering or to DGS, can assume that they have likely been rejected for their first choice major; however, you cannot assume you have been otherwise admitted to the alternative major or college shown; all that is being shown at this point is that you are being considered for the alternative.

Also be aware that one of the decisions you can get is deferral to Feb decision. I mention that because the business college, in particular, and the engineering college to a significant degree, have traditonally deferred large numbers, the majority of whom are later admitted. In other words, don’t be shocked if you get a deferral and it does not mean death.

Kind of surprised I’ve been switched to DGS now - I got into Purdue’s FYE program yesterday as an OOS. Now I just have to find a way to afford 35k/yr
