New things to do/know as a new Gaucho?

Hi!

My son has made his decision! He will be a Gaucho come Fall 2017

He is set for housing and dining plan (submitted app). Now it’s just a waiting game for assignment and to schedule orientation.

Obviously we have dorm room shopping to do, but what else should we know/do in relation to UCSB in particular? He is thinking of wanting to but a bike. Can you throw some suggestions our way as total newbies?

Your son will definitely want a bike. Do not get a beach cruiser with wide handlebars. They require too much space in parking racks and in the bike lanes. A single-speed bike is fine, but it should be more sleek.
