New to CC -- chances!!!

<p>Hey, Im new to CC but I was just kinda wondering about my chances at a couple schools:</p>

<p>Stanford
Harvard
Yale
Cornell
Northwestern
Berkeley
UCLA

<p>white male public school CA</p>

<p>GPA: 3.84 unw 4.2 weighted
Rank: top 4%
SAT: 2270 (680 verbal 790 math 800 writing)
SAT II 740 US his, 740 math II<--not me!!!! (can i still retake?), 710 lit
ACT: 33 composite
APs: 5 (bio) 4 (eng lang & US history) -- taking macro/micro, calc ab, us gov this year (school does APs weird until senior year)
Essays: really -- writing is one of my strong points
Recs: 2 teach: both amazing (1 alum of stanford), counselor: surprisingly great (new to school this year, but i am her favorite student and we spent a lot of time 2gether...)</p>

<p>All are reaches except NYU and NW. You have nothing that makes you stand out.</p>

<p>adding to abg41, you still have a shot at all those schools because yer scores are right around the range (even slightly higher) of those colleges. Yes, you will need to make yourself stand out, but if yer essays are as good as you say, it might be enough to push yourself over the top.</p>

<p>If you're new to CC, I'm pretty sure what they mean by "stand out" is you have no hooks. YOu have to keep in mind that almost every student applying to those schools that have a chance at them, are basically as, or even more so talented than you.</p>

<p>Once you're at that level of schooling, you're gonna need a hook that makes adcoms remember you.</p>

<p>Ya, I know...Im like the prototypical boring applicant, it sux....but I think I counteracted that by working on my essays to no end</p>
