hey! i was just accepted to Cornell U. i'm just curious... just how cold is it at Ithaca? does it really rain/sleet/snow non stop? what do you guys do in your free time? is drinking really a big issue at the school?
thanks*

i don't know jack about cornell except for the name recognition. but congrats.

Yea I'm new to Cornell also, got in ED to CAS. I've heard all the rumors but I think its just typical New England weather, snow starting in november and thawing in febuary or march. The weather gets a little wierd though because of Lake Cayuga, but its really not worse than boston or the rest of NE. Its definitely a party school in addition to being an Ivy which I'm thrilled about and it has a great fraternity scene. Drinkings pretty big I've heard but its a huge school so theres something for everyone.

I heard the weather so far this year isn't too bad but when I was a student there the summer weather was great and the winter weather was terrible. During a six-week summer session it only rained two or three times. It snowed quite a bit in the winter and rained a lot in the spring. Rain and strong wind is what is annoying. Take a strong umbrella. Many students use cheap ones that bend easily or use no umbrella at all.

There is a social scene for everyone. Drinking is a big thing on campus. Cornell students drink like all other college students in the country. But there is plenty for non-drinkers to do as well.

ive heard that the townhosues are really nice, but not conducive to meeting people (my best friend goes there)...you definetly want a dorm first year...

hey guys, thanks so much for the input :)

my aim is jelstar418. anyone else going to cornell next year, feel free to IM me! thanks*
