New to the forum!

Hello. I'm a rising senior who has lurked on these forums for a while, but I figured I would finally post, too. My issue is that I cannot find any colleges I'd want to apply to. What would be the best forum to get suggestions on which schools to look at?

Thank you!

The College Search & Selection forum. I’ve moved your thread there.

Here are some basic questions you could keep in mind while looking up colleges:

What do you intend to major in? Check if the college has your major and if it is well known in that field.

What are your stats? Scores aren’t everything and a killer essay will take you a long way. However, looking at schools whose accepted student profile is similar to yours is a good way to start.

What size of school are you looking for? Large public school or a smaller, more intimate college?

How much tuition are you able to pay? If you need aid, it is very important that you look at colleges that would meet your financial needs. Also look at colleges where you would easily get a merit scholarship.

Is there a particular region that you want your college to be in, or is anywhere in the country okay? Maybe you want only warm-weather schools, or maybe you’d prefer the opposite. Maybe you don’t fancy certain states. Whatever it is, that is an additional criterion to look at.

Have you visited any colleges yet? Did any appeal to you?

I hope these questions help. Bear in mind that they are only the starting point, but you still have time ahead of you to choose. Try search engines like CollegeBoard’s BigFuture or CC’s SuperMatch - both are excellent tools to help narrow your list down.
