Hey guys,

I apologize ahead of time if I am posting in the wrong section, but I really need to know my chances. So please don't flag me just yet!

So my issue is that I am a third year CC student and looking to transfer to UCLA. My major is biz econ and my current GPA is floating around in the mid 3.7. I did calculations and found that if I work hard and get a 4.0 this semester, I can raise my overall GPA to a 3.84 by Spring 2013. The thing that concerns me is that, I read on other forums that UCLA cuts off applicants with a GPA lower than a 3.8.

We apply in the fall, which means I am basically applying with a 3.7 GPA. My question is will I be cut off before they see an updated GPA? Or are they going to give me a chance?

I am stressing a lot about this situation because UCLA is the only UC I would go to. If I don't get in, then I probably will go to a state school. PLEASE HELP I BEG YOU!!

1) Why would you only apply to one UC?

2) UCLA is a state school.

3) I’m pretty sure the GPA cutoff isnt 3.8. It’s more like 3.5, but anything above that is gold for that major.

4) Are you doing TAP?

suprafreshkid is right. You will be competitive with that gpa, but apply to other schools in case. And someone correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t the ask you to submit your fall grades before they start the selection process? Either way, you should have a good chance.

I am going to tag with UC Irvine, but it is likely that I won’t go to the school because of money issues. I visited the campus of Irvine and I wasn’t too sure about the school. I did not like it as much as other schools. What I mean is that UCLA is the only UC campus that I enjoyed my visit at. If I don’t get in, I will probably opt to go to a CSU.

I was looking at the statistics of the average GPA for the admitted students for Biz Econ and it was about a 3.92.

I am doing TAP because they do not offer it at my school.

music1990: That is what I really want to know for sure. If schools make their decision after we update our fall grades. So somebody please tell music1990 is right so I can sleep easily

Your Fall grades will be considered in the admissions process

Like suprafreshkid said, they will not make a decision until they see your fall grades. Realistically speaking, you need a 3.9+ to get into UCLA Biz Econ, that’s what Kwak told me at UCLA. Good Luck
