Chiming in with a vote for a Student Athlete forum.
Googling “likely letter” and discovering CC in September of my D1’s senior year was a godsend, but it was a plod through a lot of threads before I finally cobbled together the information I needed.
Since then I’ve gotten numerous PMs from athletes and their parents trying to figure out the NCAA and where they fit. A short cut to this info would be GREAT and time is of the essence! Coaches started calling HS seniors the day before yesterday…
Thanks for asking for our input, and let me say again, my daughter made a tremendous match for college, but without CC, I’m not sure we would have known how to navigate the complex world of the student athlete.
I like the idea of regional forums.
IB forum makes sense, as does an athletics forum.
I’d like to see music for non-majors forum, but maybe that would be too narrow.
It would be cool if CC had some sophisticated way to link to similar or related threads without having to do a search.
It could be useful if after a certain number of posts to a thread viewers could rate its helpfulness. Also if viewers could attach tags that might help generate appropriate search results.
I really like this idea. Great way to discuss various options in a particular state. Often someone who is looking at 3rd or 4th tier state schools is open to several of them, and it would be a great way to talk about comparisons.
For that matter, maybe there are some of the more “dead” schools’ forums could be combined if there was a logical way to do that. An example was the suggestion that shrinkrap made of grouping the HBCU’s. Maybe things like “small southern lac’s” or the like would be comparable.
The Novice Forum was a good idea, too. If some of the regulars made it a point to frequent it, they could make suggestions to the newbies for good places to ask their questions and share links to relevant threads.
A discussion of learning styles and how different schools and/or majors fit with different types of students would be interesting.
As to the “nothing new” issue, it may not be a problem for the vast majority of us. I have been on here for over 3 years and I still find the forum enjoyable. Since we have just graduated our youngest, I don’t have nearly so many questions anymore, but I enjoy participating in discussions on general topics and sharing information when I can help someone.
I would LOVE to see a “Getting ready for college” forum for all the upcoming freshman. I feel like it would be much easier to get help.
It would also be great if there was a “health fields” forum. There are many students that are interested in becoming a pharamacist, physical therapist, etc. It would really be a great resource.
I really do wish there was a forum for regional schools or just the state/region in general. This site needs to try to help the average students who don’t attend a top school.
CC administrators, can we please have a common app forum?
Asking questions on the sole “Common App Faq” thread is very disorganized and many of our questions become unanswered as that thread is posted on every day.
No grade level forums. Keep all the HS Life threads in one place so that someone else wouldn’t have to search through all four forums. Also opposed to the CC search because it turns up irrelevant results. Just keep the Google search. Anyways, I don’t support adding any more forums. They’re not going to be used like the Study Abroad one.

The upper-left box is “Search by Key Word”
Fill in your key word(s)
In the drop-down box, choose “Search Titles Only”
Click “Search Now” towards the bottom
While I am extremely impressed with the academic achievements of most of the students here on cc, I think many truly “average” students are intimidated by their incredibly high GPAs and SATs. I would like to see additional forums for lower tier schools.
What I would like to see is everyone posting a new thread on College Confidential using an informative thread title that shows what the thread is about. That would help other users in a lot of ways.
i would love to see the college search forum by regional breakdown, noteworthy undergrad colleges by region, south, north, midwest and west each having a list of about 30-40 colleges. these are small, less known but good/quite good choices for hs students seeking to apply to regional schools.
i’m sure there must be a lot of existing or even more ccers to come join these forums. so far there are basically top national public/private universities, ivies, lacs but not enough regional schools.
IMO, Graduate School thread needs an extension, maybe Major wise. And for the College Life section, maybe seperate threads for freshman, soph, junior, senior and an extension where college students/ representatives can post news and happening in their colleges/unis.
