Is it possible for a new transfer student assigned a spot?
How hard is it?
(Because the UW housing said May be assigned in late September or put on a waiting list for assignment after the autumn quarter begins. (https://hfs.uw.edu/Guides-and-Handbooks/UW-Housing-Application-Guide-Undergrads.aspx , Pp16))
Almost impossible I think. I asked other students, and they got room in one quarter later.
I’m priority 2 and bit worried now
@9820520 I’m priority 2 and crying in the corner.
This year, I’m guessing transfer students will have very little chance at getting a room. Right now, even though not all priority 1 students have selected rooms, there’s only 25 beds available. There’s still about 1,000 priority 1 kids left.
Remember that when freshmen log in to room draw, they only see the rooms for which they are eligible. So, if you are a male, non-smoker, non-substance-free, you only see rooms open for that. Not the rooms saved for females or those who want substance-free housing. If you are not admitted for engineering, business, honors, etc. you are not going to see the rooms in those LLC’s either.
There are more than 25 beds left, but there are a lot of freshmen trying to get into housing.
I talked to hfs, and right now, even outside of my preferences, the only beds available are in llc. Even then, I’m not sure how many there are.
I’m in Priority 3 lol. Pretty sure I’m getting nothing. Also, do you guys know about the temporary housing in Hansee? I read about it on hfs and they said it’s for sorority people and people with low hoysing priority. I’m hoping I will atleast get that
I have friends that are going to UW this year and those even in priority 1 had trouble getting rooms. Don’t count on getting a room until winter quarter is what the word is for priority 2 & beyond. Also the fact that this year is the highest number of students accepted, they can’t accommodate everyone.
i got an e-mail from HFS and it says “The demand for on-campus housing is very high this year, and we are working hard to accommodate as many students as we can. At this time, we strongly believe we will be able to assign you to a room on campus for autumn quarter. We’ll update you again in mid-August, at which point we hope to be able to provide more concrete information.”
I hope this is a good sign
@9820520 It does look like a good sign. I received an email this morning as well but it was a lot different.
“We will begin assigning applicants in your priority group as soon as all applicants in earlier groups are assigned.
It is possible we may be able to assign some applicants in your assignment group before autumn quarter begins; however, we will not know until very late, probably some time between September 18 and September 25.
Please recall:
· It is likely that students in your assignment group will be prioritized by commuting distance, meaning those who live farther away will be given rooms before those whose permanent address is closer to campus.
· You may be given a space in temporary housing while we wait for a permanent room for you.”
And they gave 3 options like wait, defer the application to winter, or cancel the application.
@9820520 me too
same as yours
@tszsan What’s your priority group?
2 (new transfer)
Q: my daughter got the letter that housing isn’t guaranteed but could get temporary housing. Is there anywhere that has a 3 month lease so she can move in winter instead?
