New UCLA Students: Where ya gonna be restin your head?

Alright, so i put on my application that i was going to be staying on campus. What do you all plan on doing? On campus, off campus (roomate? no roomate? what area?), or one of those co ops? hook it up with any links or things you've heard about housing at UCLA for transfers. DAMN i still can't believe this is real.

I'm going to live at home to save up money for law school.

I plan to do Off-Campus housing with some roomate...But I am still waiting for Berk and SD...

I am planning on getting a house with a roommate for me and my dogs somewhere close. Or, an apartment in West LA. I'll have to do some more investigating....Good question....I just can't believe I'm in at this point...

It all came so fast......acceptance, SIR...everything...

also probably going to do an apartment.

Ive shared a room since my sister was born (15 years, thx). Im ready for a little space.

Should do what allena is doing but my friend is graduating this year from ucla and I'm taking over his apartment on gayley across campus. $550 for a one bedroom apartment... thank god for rent control.

Wow. Thats an amazing deal.

My aunt wants to move down here. She said i could take over her apartment. 2 bedrooms for $600. But its in Hollywood. Kinda would like at least a semblence of the whole college life thing.

Blah. Shall worry about that a little later.

*i do realize id be stupid for turning that down. its just an idea right now and stuff. we'll see.

btw allena and allie are you guys gonna finally sport that UCLA sweatshirt you guys were too nervous to even look at?

hahahaha.

yes i brought it to school today (got in this morning). but it wasnt really cold enough. oh wells.

I think hollywood is ideal for ucla take sunset all the way down to veteran plus you avoid the 405 and the 10 can't beat that with a baseball bat

yeah. its kinda northish hollywood though. would prolly have to take sepulveda if anything. which isnt so bad i spose.

haha, look at you guys all excited :~) Now that you got in, you can finally start making plans just like you dreamed about doing...God, it makes me so jealous.

Mex, that sounds great.....need a roommate? lol

Just kidding....when do you all think a good time is to start looking, now or some time during the summer maybe?

Would get an apartment near school, but I've got family and obligations in the Valley that I go to on a weekly basis. Can't avoid the 405, it's a known fact. ;-)

I'd start now, the sooner the better. If you commute make sure you apply early for a parking permit they are in high demand as well despite their extremely high prices. Good Luck on the 405 parking lot

Oh, it's not that bad, you just have to know when to go. Everyone has to commute, you know.....it's a fact of life. You've got to leave the Westwood zone, West LA bubble at some point, right?

I live near LA, I know how it can be. That's life in the big city! ;-)

wuts the best option for ucla housing?
the dorms on campus?
or the apts off campus?

if i live in dorms do i live w/ the freshman?
cuz i looked on the site , it says all ucla housing is within walking distance

but they have NO prices

***?

People here are saying how great the dorms are but trust me on this one the transfer dorms and the freshmen dorms are day and night in contrast. The transfer apartment complex is this huge, old building, with really cramped living quarters. Go with an apartment if your'e lucky enough to find one. Transfers get shafted when it comes to housing it is not guranteed and there is even a lottery and waiting list for the aforementioned run down building.
