New UCLA Students: Where ya gonna be restin your head?

the rents are crrrrrrazy!

off campus housing with 4 roommates

Do you guys think Sherman Oaks would be too far?

Off campus apartment away from filthy hippy college students...er... ;)

Seriously though...you can't be over 25 and stay in a dorm anyways.

hippies are only found in cal. and also, transfer students range in age from 18 - 26, the average being 21, so it isn't that bad of an idea to stay in the dorms 'cause that's where you experience ucla at its most. i, personally, am looking forward to that eagerly...

<ahem> oh, you'd be surprised.....the non-traditional population is a much bigger group than you'd realise.....lol</ahem>

as always...I am above "average" (in age, that is....) lol

Seriously....to take the UC-money and get an apartment with 2-3 other roommates sounds like the best situation, but not a place within walking distance to school......it's too loud, I hear.

Mike....it looks nice, just too steep for me......frankly, I don't want to live with that many people. I'm a foodie and I have to have the kitchen to myself....

Have you ever seen two women ever try to share kitchen who actually loved to cook? It's not pretty....lol

I need to find an area to live that's not too bad to commute to both UCLA and UCR. Any suggestions?

Yeah michelle it is very loud the streets surrounding the campus are lined with frats and sororities with parties/soc events every friday and it is very hilly, we will get a good workout walking from our cars to class believe me on this one.

As a 21 yr old transfer student, would suites be preferable to residential halls ? I like the thought of being in the halls as far as meeting more people but don't want to feel out of place if they're occupied only by freshmen...

i am 19 right now... by the time i get to UCLA ill be almost 20 but i think ill be staying in the residence halls... im hoping i wont feel out of place in the dorms, but heck i feel like i need the res hall's so i can meet people.. and i am relatively young for a transfer...

all I can say is that you DO NOT want to commute to UCLA. Im not sure how many people are aware, but parking there is an absolute nightmare. get something in walking distance or bust

Commuting is not that bad....I've done it for years lol. I'd rather commute than pay 12,000+ on room and board there. I am also looking to go to Graduate School. Unless me and my friends can find a place this summer for less than 500 a person, than I am definitely commuting.

Maybe when you all grow up a bit you'll see that sometimes you don't have choices......personally, I love my home on the beach. It'll all work out.....
