New US News Graduate School Rankings are out...

As usual, Michigan did well, although it did drop in a couple of fronts.

Business school:
Ross was ranked #13, a slight improvement from last year's ranking of #14. Looking at the statistics (placement rates upon graduation, average starting salaries etc...), very little separates #4 from #14.

As always, Ross was highly ranked in most sub-fields, particularly Accounting, International, Management, Marketing and Operations.

Where Ross seems to be hurting is in the Recruiter Assessment rating. Its score was 3.9/5.0. Although this is concerning, it is also easily fixed. Ross just needs to work on charming recruiters.

Engineering:
Michigan's CoE improved to #8 from #9. Michigan did very well in all sub-fields. It is the only university to have been ranked among the top 10 in 10 of the 11 sub-fields. Aerospace, Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical and Nuclear were all ranked among the top 5 while Biomedical made a leap to #7 from #12.

Law School:
Michigan Law School dropped to #10 this year, from #7 last year. It is hard to understand how Michigan dropped here. Its assessment scores according to Academics, Judges and Big Law are 4.5/4.6/4.7 respectively. Only 4 other law schools have a higher average reputational scores. Virtually all industry rankings I have seen have Michigan Law ranked between #5 and #7, so #10 is a little low, but again, the difference between #4 and #14 is pretty insignificant. Placement rates, starting salaries, media LSAT scores, Bar passage rates etc... are all fairly similar across schools ranked between #4 and #14.

Medical School:
Michigan Medical School Research ranking remained at #10. The Medical school's peer ratings were also very high (4.55/5.0 average). Only 7 medical schools had a higher peer average rating.

Although not as important, Michigan Medical Primary Care ranking improved to #8 in the nation, which is a pretty impressive jump from #20 last year.

The schools of Education and Public Policy both dropped out of the top 10, but remained ranked among the top 12.

Unfortunately, there were no new rankings in the traditional disciplines.

Yeah I was reading a little about the law school rankings on TLS, and the drop doesn’t really matter at all (just like Harvard’s drop to 3). The T14’s still the same and employment prospects are still the same.
