New user, what are my chances?

Hey, I'm a rising senior and I'm really nervous about the upcoming college application process. I was wonder if you could give me some feedback on which colleges are right for me. Thanks so much in advance!

Ethnicity: Chinese
Age: 15
Rank: 50 out of 590
GPA (weighted): 3.8
APs: World History, Chem, U.S. History, Bio, Physics C, English Lang. and Lit., Calc AB, Gov't & Econ.
SAT I: 2240
SAT II Math 2: 750
SAT II Math Bio-M: 750
ACT R: 35
ACT M: 33
ACT W: 36
ACT S: 36
EC: Orchestra, band, debate
Volunteering: School volunteering club, YMCA Teen Court

The above is basically my resume, in as few words as possible. I've taken more tests than that but those are the important ones. My high school is insanely competitive, but somewhat well-known. Thanks again!

Rank, APs, and test scores seem promising! Maybe you should do a few more extra-curriculars?? But I don’t know how much leadership you have. Maybe you left out some ECs.

I am not trying to be racist, and you might have heard this before, but. AND ONCE AGAIN, I AM NOT TRYING TO BE RACIST BUT. I heard that Chinese are not exactly considered a minority in the academic circles. That might make it a little bit harder for you to get in. It’s a pretty unfair thing that they make it harder for some smart people to get in just because they’re Chinese, it’s somewhat discriminatory and I have heard many complaints about it. I wish you the best of luck though, because your test scores look very promising–especially the ACT.

You are 15 and a senior?
Anyways, sorry that was just the first thing I saw, but you could work on your ecs. At my school band and orchestra are either classes or just an hour before school, and they only meet twice a week after school…so compared to sports or intensive clubs it doesn’t look as good. I’ve heard that, unless you are competing at the state/national level or the founding member of a huge club, colleges are really looking for if you do stuff after school or if you just go straight home and hang out on facebook all day. :P

Excellent test scores! Off the top of my head, I think colleges that aren’t (I hate using this word) as “preppy” would be the best for you right now, because the “preppy” colleges are used to seeing the applicants be in like 500000 clubs and stuff.

[Chance pweez?](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/738434-chance-suggest-average-student-ill-chance-back.html)

Thanks for the feedback.
I’m sure you’re right about my ECs–I left out NHS and SNHS, but those aren’t very time-consuming either. ECs are definitely my weak point.

I’m a little younger than my classmates because I skipped a couple grades in elementary school, and I’m afraid that will hurt my chances as well.

I’ll go chance you now! :]

You are an ORM, but that’s not a strike against you, really. And I wouldn’t be too worried about being younger than the rest of the pool. Your scores are all pretty good, and so are your APs. Admittedly, your ECs aren’t great, but I think you should still apply to the usual contingent of top universities. Cornell, Brown, UPenn, those. If you’re looking for a good resource to find colleges, try the College Board website - they have a great search feature. Good luck!

You don’t have that many ECs. That would be the only thing to hurt you.
