New UVA blog...just about the application process

Hi all,

Just thoght I'd let you know that I've started a blog specifically for posts about the UVA application. I'll still have my old blog about issues in higher education, but I imagine some of you are looking for more of a "newsletter" style blog to answer questions about the process.

Here you go...feel free to use the comment function to ask questions about the process.

http://uvaapplication.blogspot.com/

Have a great day and good luck with all of your applications!

~Dean J

Dean J, you still need to correct the SAT interquartile range given on this page:

http://www.virginia.edu/undergradadmission/profile.html

Cav, you can be sure that all of our statistics will be reviewed when the census is complete.

Bumping this link back up

Congratulations Dean J

How I wish this blog had been up last year. I worried about each of those points that you covered: why the essay wouldn't print out (even with the old Adobe); why the UVA admissions web site never showed receipt of anything or even a glimmer of being current; etc, etc. Good answers and Hope you have a great thanksgiving. I'm sure your colleagues at Peabody Hall will be thankful for getting a few hundred less phone calls. (Yes, I was a repeat offender )

I figured that while this message board is very popular, a lot of students are just googling their questions and hunting for answers elsewhere.

If you all have tips about the UVA application process that you think other applicants would be interested in knowing, please let me know!

bumping this back up...Dean J updated, but it's nothing new. Basically just telling us all again that Dec. 1st is the notification date and for us all to chill out. Somehow I doubt that chilling out part will happen though: ).

From the Blog:

"That will give us one month to read a few thousand applications at least twice, make final decisions, have letters printed, double checked, stuffed into envelopes, and mailed. It's an extremely tight time line and expecting an early end to the process just isn't reasonable."

That actually eases the anxiety inside of me if they are actually double checking and making sure of everything they are doing. I wouldn't want them to rush getting the decisions out earlier than they need to be.
