On the Orientation checklist, one of the items to complete is “Complete New Students Info Form & Forum Application.” I read all the information about this new program available for the Class of 2020 and it looks really interesting (http://college.as.virginia.edu/the-forums). It looks like a cool and structured way to complete your area requirements.
I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts or any more information about the Forums?
HIGHLY recommend you pursue a Forum. I’m a current upperclassman and participated in several meetings regarding the planning of these Forums; all I can say is I sorely wish I could have done one as a new student. They seem exciting and interesting to me, and will help you knock out requirements, transition to college, and connect with faculty. There has been a lot of planning and thought put into them, so even though they are a new initiative, I think they will be well-done. You also get some choice in the classes you take, so it’s more of a flexible theme than a rigid path of required courses.
Thank you so much for the information! I am definitely on-board.
