New versus old SAT: did anyone have a problem with this?

I noticed that a few people who were deferred EA only listed critical reading and math scores, not writing. I don't know if this means anything. Perhaps everyone took the new SAT but simply didn't list the writing score, since Chicago doesn't officially count the latter. Still, I remember this question was discussed once before and some applicants were surprised that the older scores weren't counted.

Here's the quote from the Chicago website about test scores:

[quote]
Test scores - Have official SAT Reasoning or ACT scores sent to the University of Chicago. (Chicago's SAT code is 1832; the ACT code is 1152.) All testing must be completed prior to the application deadline. SAT Subject Test scores are not required, but you are welcome to add them to your file. If you choose to submit SAT scores, you must sit for the new version of the SAT with the essay component. (If you choose to submit ACT scores, we do not require the optional essay component.)

I think people didn't list the writing scores because they knew Chicago wasn't using them this year for evaluation.

I don't know if people took the old or new. But the new was required, so if they only took the old, there would be a problem.

Chicago doesnt officially count the writing section? Where does it say that? I searched their website but couldnt find anything.

I hope they don't...I'd have a 1520/1600 then rather than a 2220/2400

From the Dec. 7, WSJ:

The University of Chicago, Ohio State University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and other institutions say scores on the writing test won't figure into their admissions decisions this year. "We don't know what they mean," says Ted O'Neill, Chicago's dean of admissions. "We don't know what they predict."
