new wesbsite

wustl.edu

I hate it, it looks unprofessional.

what. on. earth?

wow…they really butchered it

gross. what’s with the font?
it is…juvenile.

definitely not as good looking as the mens club volleyball website

https://sites.google.com/site/washuvolleyball/

glad to hear i am not alone in the boat on this one. the font is stupid, and the background image is just…■■■■■■■■. too cluttered.

I don’t think that was the best photograph to use on the new website, either.

To me, it looks like they are in the process of re-doing it…I hope.

What WERE they thinking?
I have always regarded WashU as the cream of the crop in PR and branding. They got a “D” on this go-round. This will actually turn people off.
I hope they change it … fast!

I dont really mind it that much, except for the background picture (but I just dont like theater stuff…) and the boxes floating on top (too cluttered)
It almost reminds me of one of those preformatted webpages you use on blog sites

At least it looks a little more put-together than the last one, which was juvenile. But it’s a little IN YOUR FACE.

My problem was with the weird photo.

The current photo of Holmes lounge is nice though.

If that’s what they’re going with, fine. But if they’re rotating the pictures out, that’s just weird.

Note: They change the photo every single day

P.S. This is a website homepage. This is not going to deter any students from applying, to think so is kinda extreme. I highly doubt students use the attractiveness of the school’s website’s homepage as a factor in their college choices.

WCASParent, I completely agree, they always used to look so tidy and professional and academic…this…not so much.

I would be OK with it if they changed the font and either got rid of the boxes on the bottom or made them smaller.

MK is definitely right on this, the font seems nice if you stare at it for a little while, but a quick scanner (in most cases many of us) will think it does not display a prestigious school; Arial would be much better in this case. I would shorten the picture in the background up to the three boxes beneath the website. The picture is really nice but having it be behind the text boxes and words seems just weird to me. I really wish they do change it quickkk :)

^gunit, I also highly doubt that someone narrowing down his/her choices close to the application date wouldn’t look at the website as a deciding factor.

However, if someone just heard of WashU - from a book, acquaintance, whatever - and thought to check it out, it most probably would not make a nice/professional first impression (or go on their list of colleges).

Agree with PoloBear - Can’t even see the lounge in this particular background pic cuz of the floating boxes. Shortening the background pic would be a good option!
