What do you mean, "auditioning for your monologues"? You mean choosing them?

smidget, let us know what you think of the program, will you? Every single year, someone comes on this site and asks about that program, and very few people seem to know anything about it. It would be great to get some info from the horse's mouth.

My daughter auditioned to the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, A.A.D.A and A.M.D.A and was accepted to all three schools. They are all close to the same price for the two year programs they offer and they all say they are Accredited? All three claim that they are difficult to get into? Not that I don’t feel my daughter is very talented, But It does make me wonder how it is that she would be accepted to all three schools, If it is so hard to be accepted in the first place. These schools cost a small fortune, So which one to go to? She likes the New York Conservatory because they will allow you to work and audition while in school and the other two will not. But she originally really wanted to go to school in California and has reservations about going to school in New York. Any additional information comparing these schools or comments would be greatly appreciated, As of right now she has no real idea which one to choose. I would hate for her to go to a school that is not what it claims to be. Thanks!

Please post anything you would like to know and I will be more than happy answer them!

Our summer program is for those who want ot underrstand what the nYC experiemce is like. 7 College credits, professional training, in the heart of Chelsea. Who could ask for more.

is this school difficult to get into. I read they only allow 180 students per year, but everyone seems to be accepted… also did lauren graham attend?

Only those who meet the requirements, audition, grades, rec letters and interview are accepted. If those credentials do not pan out, those individuals are denied acceptance and yes Lauren Graham did attend the conservatory.

Why is it everyone I heard have never got rejected? Does the summer program offer scholarships?

Lauren Graham also has an MFA from Southern Methodist University.

I know nothing about the New York Conservatory, but it does seem that they take a large percentage of applicants.

That was my point NMR, it doesn’t seem like high standards.

i’ve been to the conservatory and it seems like a great school! I have to say on the note of accepting a lot of people the school inside is not very big and the classrooms are small so I think they accept a very small amount of people just from seeing the location…

Maybe not that much apply?

an admissions person there who im working with, just came back from london where they had 102 auditon just in london and only will accept 1 or 2 from london. they have many more auditions in different cities as well as nyc. I think there being honest when they write the amount auditioning.

I’m sure they are, I just haven’t heard many people who haven’t go in is all.

i know i was a little skeptical also but i cant imagine they would make all of it up and post it online and all… Plus speaking to the admissions there, they seem to be very honest and nice people:)

I bet they are, :)

I am an admisions representative here. I will answer any questions you may have. Because we are small and because we are selective, unfortunately we only have room for a select few. To answer your question earlycollege - ANYONE can be a part of the summer so you are correct in saying we have no rejections for that. However your statement about us not be selective is incorrect. We evaluate everyone based on audition, grades, rec letters and interviews. If you fail any portion of that, you won;t be asked to attend. If anyone wants to ask me something specific, (I’m looking at you NotMamaRose [ with your quote of “I know nothing about the NY Conservativory”) you may do it in this forum or privately. There is absolutley nothing I cannot or will not answer with the utmost honesty.

Adm: I was saying that everyone I have heard who auditioned, got in the school. I was thinking of going to your summer program next summer, if I would get the scholarship. Also, is this a full scholarship? Can you the monologue come from a TV show or movie? When it says you get college credit, what schools are we talking about? Would schools like NYU or USC take the credit? Do I have to be 16 when I audition or the time of the camp? Also, how competitive are the scholarships? When do the dates for the scholarship come out and what cities are they in?

If you went to the controversy for two years, can you then transfer to BFA programs/or go into an MFA? When you say good grades, what is the minimum requirement? Thanks so much and sorry for all the questions.

Hello early_college - Thanks so much for your questions. To answer your first question, you are PARTLY corret and PARTLY incorrect. We do not require an audition for our Summer program. If you’d like to attend the Summer in the City 2009 Program, you may apply and pay the tuition. However, if you’d like SCHOLARSHIP to attend the Summer in the City 2009 program, you MUST AUDITION. Not EVERYONE WHO AUDITIONS GETS A SCHOLARSHIP. The Scholarship is not a full scholarship, however they are individually based. Talent based scholarships are given based on your audition. It can be anything from a little up to 1/2 tution.

For the Summer Audition we need to see 1 contemporary monologue - 60-90 seconds in length - from a legitimate source (Film, TV and/or plays - No self-written pieces allowed)

The Summer Acting Intensive allow students to earn up to seven transferable college credits. We are Nationally Accredited. Vist [National Association of State Treasurers](http://www.nast.org) to find our pool of colleges.

You have to be 16 to be enrolled in the Summer program, as long as you are going to be 16 by the start date of the Summer Session, you may audition when you are still 15 years old.

admdirfornycda, thanks for the offer to tell me more about the NY Conservatory. My kid is already happily studying at NYU Tisch, but I do know one student at your school and he seems (from what I hear) very happy. I really have no need to learn more: my comment that I know “nothing about the New York Conservatory” was directed at answering someone who had posted above me. It was not meant to reflect any opinion (positive or negative) on your program, which, as I said, I know nothing about. My daughter was interested only in a four year college program.
