Hello! I'm flying in from Australia to JFK, New York on Thursday and have no idea of how to get to New Haven.
Does anybody know, preferably the cheapest way, to get to New Haven? I've had a look on the Yale university and am a little confused.

Thanks!

You can probably catch the A train if my memory serves me. But that will take a long time depending which day/ time you arrive @ JFK. Go to www.mta(dot)info and click on trip planner. You can type in JFK (and which terminal you will begin your trip from). You will type in Grand Central Station as your destination, from here you can take a train to New Haven. The mta website will have that info as well. Just click on Metro North/New Haven line.

The train station is pretty close to Yale’s campus. A quick cab ride is about 5 minutes. And the bus is pretty quick and cheaper. The bus station is right outside of the train station. Just tell the bus driver you are going to Yale campus and he will make the stop for you.

A shared ride from JFK to Grand Central and then the Metro North to New Haven will probably be the cheapest. here is a link to the NY Airport Service which used to be around $15.

The Metro is around $16-$21 one way (purchase at station not on board) from Grand Central to New Haven and you can take the Yale Shuttle for free to get to campus from the Metro Station. I believe the Red route is the one you need.

Great info Kdog! Far better than mine.
