Hey im currently a junior in high school, the schools im interested in are Syracuse University, Stony Brook University, Hofstra University. Syracuse is the school I would really love to go to and ill probaly apply early decision there

Senior Year,-Im in college level english classes, college level social studies classes, college level spanish 5, im continuing with math, im taking AP Bio, and either AP Chem or AP Physics(whichever I dont take, im going to take it as a class at a local community college over the summer)

Other Stats

-Im determined to go to a good university, and possibly study pre-med

anyone ? ;)

I’m not sure about any of the schools you listed, but have you considered/heard of Mary Mount Manhatten?

Mary Mount Manhatten? No, I havent

You will probably be fine ED, but be careful given the fact that you need FA…wont be able to compare packages in that case since you have to withdraw other apps…

thanks  anyone else wana help me out

Carlozz16 - I think you have an excellent chance of acceptance at Syracuse…The upward curve in GPA is exactly what colleges like to see, your taking challenging courses…your a URM and First Generation which are great hooks, applying ED will look even better for you, it will really show your interest level in Syracuse and the fact that your parents are low income helps with financial aid…my D was accepted and received a wonderful financial aid package because we are also low income…we had an EFC of O and she is as I write this having the time of her life up at Syracuse for their three day Multicultural Spring Program, she will back on Tuesday. So I say shoot for the stars and I expect you will be a member of Syracuse U Class of 2015! Good Luck to you!

do you think I would get a good FA package?

Although your frosh gpa was very low, it’s good that you have an uprising trend in grades. Colleges know that you mature as you get older, and it shows them that you are developing a good work ethic. Syracuse & Hofstra you’ll probably get in, but I’m not sure about Stony Brook, as I don’t know much about it.

I think it was good that you have an upwards trend with your GPA.
SAT shouldn’t be that bad; just take LOTS of practice tests from the College Board Official Guide and you should get 1800-1900.

I’m sure you can get in Hofstra. I haven’t really heard of the other colleges haha. Sorry!

Nice  anyone else wana plz help me out, I know ur out their people :)

With a 3.6 high school GPA, you should be good for all of those schools. Like somebody else said, don’t play the Early Decision game until you are sure you can pay it off no matter what.

Hofstra should give you some scholarships too.

Chance me? You posted in my thread and never did :P

yup, upward trend is a good thing. A match. I’m applying to Cuse to0 and other schools so can you please chance me?

you’ll get in with your upward curve and first gen. you’ll get FA out the wazzoo if you really try for it. good luck!

I’d probably say that you are a match at all three of those schools. Very good shot at getting into all 3. Thanks for chancing me earlier!

I think Syracuse would be excellent in terms of chances. Just write a good app! I cannot explain how important that is! My bro only had a 3.66 and a 2250 and he got into Wharton E.D. because of siiiick essays.

I also advise you to apply to:
NYU (reach)
Quinnipiac
UConn
Long Island University (safety)
Boston University
Manhattanville
Manhattan College
Sarah Lawrence College
Vassar (big reach)
U Maryland
New York Institute of Technology
SUNY Stony Brook
SUNY Binghamton

what was you sat score?

You look like you’re in really good shape for all three of those schools! You keep improving every year and that’s good, along with being a first generation and all that other stuff. Definitely apply ED!
