New York Times Spelling Bee, anyone?

Okay, that FB page is a lot! They are hardcore with their acronyms and incredibly parsed details of what level of hint/not hint each person will go to, and when, and why.

Might have to only check in very sparingly.

But still a fun new resource.

The Bee is frustrating because the NYT doesn’t own up to its mistakes. Sometimes they will fall back on “It’s a GAME”. But a game must have rules. “Undaunted” should have resulted in a correction/mea culpa. While the NYT can claim certain words aren’t included because they are obscure, the word undaunted appears dozens and dozens of times in the NYT ( as a search will quickly show).

Yeah, I have had to work to get past that one because it made me so angry.

Oh wow, I didn’t even know this was a thing. I solved the free version of today’s puzzle. Would have been faster if I had read instructions to know you could use letters more than once! (Instructions, what a novel idea)
I don’t have a subscription so will have to evaluate that in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for the fun!

Ballyard? Dooryard? But not undaunted, penpal, or alee? I don’t feel bad at all that I didn’t get to Queen Bee yesterday.

Bodyboard??? (spell check say it is two words. Same with mahi mahi a few days ago.)

Yeah they disregarded a really basic one for today. Won’t say, due to spoilers, but pretty unhappy about it.

An aside—I thought yesterday’s trick for the Sunday NYT crossword puzzle was very cute once I finally figured it out!

Yes, bodyboard was another “word” I missed.

Thanks @garland! It’s been a long time since I’ve been on this forum–since my kids are grown and have been on their own for a while. I’m surprised you remember me!

It turns out a bunch of us just like chatting about, oh, everything–mostly having little to do with our grown kids!

My interest in on-line games waxes and wanes, so I won’t pay for the NYT Spelling Bee.

However, there is an iPhone app “Spelling Bee pangram word play” that is free. You might have to watch an occasional short add, but you can play entire games for free.

There is another app called “Pangram” that looks similar. I haven’t downloaded it though.

I’m addicted to online Scrabble.

I’m becoming totally addicted to Spelling Bee. Happened to wake up right at 3am when the new puzzle is released and did it before going back to sleep. First time to get QBWG. There weren’t any hints yet so had to do it all on my own.

ML, you need to try this site. It’s subscription-based but worth every penny.
