New Yorker Columnist

I'm a High School Sophomore and I really like, and am good at, writing. I've written tons of half finished, 100k+ word stories since 5th grade, and now every essay I undertake I just naturally strive to make perfect.

My goal is to be published in the New Yorker by the time I apply to colleges, but, let's face it, that's not likely to happen (sorry, thread title). Right now, I'm aiming to publish an article in the Boston Globe.

Right now I'm just beginning to write a piece about the Vietnam War and its relationship to the Second Gulf War, both of which are subjects that interest me. Once I have this edited and concise, would I just send it to Mr. Globe's house with a name and request for money? Is the Boston Globe, or any such paper/magazine, actually looking to publish war editorials?

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

you should go to a school with a top student newspaper, get involved there, become an editor (not necessarily EIC just some editing), then you’re almost guaranteed an internship at a big newspaper or magazine. then you can work there
