I live in NYC and I would really enjoy going to college out of state. Saying I had the best grades possible and I could get into any school I wanted, what are some good places to check out?

This is an absurdly general question.

Unless you have perfect stats, perfect ECs, unlimited money, and a hook that would move an elephant, we really can’t answer this without more info.

Harvard and MIT are both very close to Boston. Yale is about an hour away from New York City. Princeton is nice and quiet if you’re looking to get away. Stanford is in sunny California if you really want to get away.

I’m a freshman now so I don’t really have grades that will say something. If you really want to know my GPA now its a 3.9 UW. My ECS are pretty good. Not amazing, but something I could work on. I’m really asking this post to see what are some good schools I can aim for.

What you’re asking is still too vague. You need to elaborate on what kind of schools you’re looking for. As an example, since you want out of NYC, would you want a school with an urban campus? What would be a subject you would want to major in? etc.

Grades only tell a small part of you. Some kids have great grades, but lowish test scores. Lowish test scores can limit your options.

Also, finances…can your parents afford to spend $55k per year to go to the school of your choice? If not, that can also make a difference as to where you can go.
