well all this depends on if you're from Troy or not...because if you're from there...I recommend Hudson Valley lol

nobody likes Troy kids lol

Oneonta state is terrible. Sorry. But it's true. I'm sure you can do much better than that. I mean we're talking third tier masters universities here.

You can probably get into Northeastern or Drexel if you get your SATs up a little bit. Even Rutgers. Aim higher.

im from clifton park.. anyone can go to hvcc.. im aiming for a decent 4-year

I'm very unsure about oneonta because according to princetonreview.com, it's a safety school for me, but my guidance counsler seems to think oneonta is a reach for me , because their average GPA is an 89.9. So I haven't been sure on who to go by.

Besides Northeastern and Drexel (both of which have great co-ops,) take a look at SUNY Buffalo (it's a little bit of a reach but you're in-state so it can't hurt to apply.) You might want to try UMass-Amherst and maybe UVM as well.

Don't sell yourself short.

Take a look at the "great schools for B students" at usnews.com. It's a good article.

Okay , thank you :)

Hartwick and Oneonta State are completely different schools - sharing the same city is where the similarity ends. Hartwick will give you more of the 'elite private college' experience, with excellent professors, a small community and a very traditional, 'new england-y' campus feel. It has become a much more competitive school now that it has been 'found' and since they've raised so much money to improve facilities. It's a well positioned school.

Oneonta State is much larger than the other schools you've mentioned. It has indeed become difficult to gain entry over the last couple of years, but so have many other schools. It is a much different experience than a school like Hartwick too, you won't get the same personal attention from professors and the campus environment and community are much different. It depends on what you're looking for and what you like....you'll need to visit each to find out. But the two schools are so different that it's almost an apples/oranges comparison.

STONEonta...haha sorry. That's it's nickname though. The school has a crazy party rep, but from what I hear it also has some cool opportunities - the town is definitely SMALL though. I would work on getting your grades up and maintaining the 90's - this could definitely help your chances.

i have heard all bad things about oneonta, but it's pretty easy to get into. you're def. in.
