New Yorkers

Any New Yorkers here that are at Stanford or are going to apply to Stanford? I have a few question for current students. How often do you visit home? How well do you adjust to the new atmosphere? Do you miss home? Is it inconvenient to be this far away? Will you be working in Cali or pursue an grad education in cali?

My parents want me to do Cornell ED instead because I have a 90% of getting in and its cheaper but my chances at Stanford EA are lower. Also, they fear that I won't visit very often and that I'll stay in Cali afterwards and forget about them. Is this common with you guys?

hey im from new york and i will be attending stanford this year. im going to come home once a year for christmas. ill definently post how i feel about it once i get there but it most likely will be amazing. that school just has a spirit that draws you in.

im from NYC, and basically the same as stanmaster except i'll be coming home twice a year for christmas and spring break.
question: how do you know you have a 90% chance at cornell ED?

also, if you have a 90% chance of getting into cornell ED, you probably have a not too much lower chance of getting in regular... so why not apply to stanford EA and then apply to cornell regular?

My school prints out this lists every year of the basic sat's and grade averages of students who applied, and then indicate whether they were accepted, waitlisted, or rejected. I have checked out the past two year's statistics and the acceptances for Cornell, at least for my school, seem to be more predictable for people with similar or better stats as mines. I know there are tons of other factors involved, but my ecs, essays, sat iis, etc are pretty solid, so this is just a crude predictor.

Anyway, not as many people apply to Stanford from my school, so its hard to predict. However, there is hope for me, because I just found out that among the 10 SCEA applicants from my school, the 4 who were accepted had gpas on the lower spectrum. All the ones with the higher gpas got rejected. Hmmm.

eh Now I'm having second thoughts on this ..

u go to Stuy high?
