I will be hoping to transfer into UCSD next fall from a community college. My current gpa is a 3.5, with a completed TAG and IGETC. I plan on majoring in Economics/Joint Math or Econ. This past semester my GPA will fall to a 3.4, which means my TAG will be voided out. What are my chances of getting in without a TAG in to these majors?

I think the question is what are your chances of getting in at all without a TAG. Now, I believe during admit day they said that the average transfer student’s GPA was 3.5. There were plenty of people above 3.5, so that means plenty of people below 3.5 also got in. If you have a compelling application but no TAG, then there is no guarantee you will get in, but you may still have a good chance.

You may want to consider dropping an entire semester if it had a low GPA. You would still have this Spring semester to make up the classes with higher grades.
