Newhouse is my absolute dream school, and it has been for years now. I will be graduating in 2015 (next year), and I will be sending 'cuse my application this fall. I was wondering if it sounds like I have a decent chance of being accepted, knowing that it is an extremely competitive school. I plan on majoring in broadcasting.

I have a 3.8 GPA
1780 SAT
I am the broadcaster for my schools television show
I currently have an internship at my countys television station
I have an award for the most outstanding television production student at my school
I will have taken a total of 6 AP classes by the time I graduate and I have taken almost all honors classes
I have had a job at Wegmans (a well known grocery store) for 2 years
I have 250+ volunteer hours
I have played Field Hockey for all 4 years and will be a captain next year
I have participated in many other EC's including theatre, boys sports management, class council, fundraisers, and SGA

I am hoping i have some sort of a chance!
Thank you for your help!

Newhouse has the selectivity of the Ivy League. You have to bring your SAT up for serious consideration. Break at least the 1900 threshold and then you can have a better shot.

@AnnieBeats
Let’s not go crazy, it’s still Syracuse.
My son got into Newhouse ED with a 3.4 and a 2250.
No top 25 school would have let him near the front door with a GPA like that.

Yeah @AnnieBeats considering New House to have Ivy selectivity is a far stretch it’s closer to Boston Univeristy, GW schools caliber. And to address your chances of getting into New House they’re pretty good as you have a great GPA. Bring up your SAT to at least a 1900 and you’re golden. Consider taking the ACT in September if the SAT doesn’t work out for you.

@roise96 @soze Yeah, it’s Syracuse, but Newhouse College accepts less than 10% of it’s applicants. It’s the most selective communications school in the country.

Percentages can be misleading. Northwestern for example gets a much, much higher quality applicant pool than Syracuse, so while they might have a higher percentage of admits, it’s much harder to get into Northwestern.
