Newly Admitted student questions about major

<p>Hi guys I'm Alex from China and I have been admitted to Mcgill Faculty of Arts 2014 fall!
To be honest I don't have a very clear and specific idea about what I'm going to do in the next four years and here I am wanting to hear from you fellow students. I am really interested in Languages Humanities and Social Science etc.(That's why I choose to go for Bachelor of Arts) and I'm inclined to focus on journalism. The thing is McGill doesn't offer undergraduate degree in journalism. If I'm going to apply for journalism major for grad school what should I probably study in my undergraduate years? PS: Any career advice related to my interests is appreciated. Journalism is just one of the possibilities that I have in mind. THX! </p>

<p>Congrats on getting into McGill! I’m from India, and I’ve been accepted into the Faculty of Arts too!</p>

<p>The cool thing about McGill is that in the Freshman (U0) year, you are allowed to choose from a broad range of courses from the Languages, Social Sciences, Humanities and Sciences. So if you are not sure about what you want to do, you can do a lot of exploring in your Freshman year. The courses you take in the first year don’t count towards any major or minor so you can experiment without worry. For journalism I suppose it would be best to take a lot of courses from the Languages and Humanities. </p>

<p>upapilot Thx! Sorry I didn’t see ur reply until now. Congrats to u too! Like you said one of the reasons I chose Faculty of Arts is that I get to experience various different courses.
