I applied as a transfer student, so they didn’t look into my high school grades. I can list my stats if you’d like…

boarderBry, are you transferring in as a junior? what kind of grades and Ec’s did you have and do in HS? thanks

I got in

32 ACT
1290 SAT
3.5 GPA

I went to a Christian school so I had lots of service work/mission trips/religious activities. President of Chemistry Club, Vice President of Drama Club, 2 state championships in one act competition play.

I’m an entering freshman, journalism and poli sci major.
3.6 GPA
SAT- 1770
CR- 600
M- 520
W- 660

Editor of the school newspaper, VP of the choir program, FBLA officer, literary magazine, school musicals, volunteer with junior high choir, etc

Yes guitars, I’m transferrring as a junior.

-3.5 gpa in high school
-1450 in the SATs (1600)

Journalism for 4 years, page editor of features for 2 years, Varsity Tennis starting sophomore year played for 2 years, Red Cross Club, Key Club, Task Force Club, National Young Leaders Conference Participant, Boy Scouts Eagle Scout

You will find my stats reassuring!

ACADEMICS:

GPA: 3.6 unweighted
RANK: 20/280
EC: Beta Club, Basketball

SAT:

MATH: 670
READING: 560
WRITING: 640

I wrote killer essays though, they literally took me months. I took no AP classes in HS even though they were offered.

SAT
Math: 600
Reading: 570
Writing: 650

GPA Unweighted: 3.5
GPA Weighted: 3.8

I’m an IB Diploma Candidate which basically means I took all honors courses.

ECs: Several Leadership positions, I’m a member to a few different community committees, and have over 300 hours of community service. Active in Church of Christ. Most of my ECs I have been active in all four years of high school.

Advice:
Make sure you join activities as a Freshman and stay committed to them throughout high school. Get involved with community service now as well, it is both rewarding on a personal level as well as useful for admissions and scholarships. Take rigorous coursework and keep your grades up. Study for the SAT, it does make a difference.

I’ll be attending in the fall.

GPA doesn’t really matter as they look at the context of your school…

Class rank= 11 out of 120 at a competitive college prep school (probably on par with the top 10% or so of public high schools, yet definitely not one of those New England boarding schools)

I took everything my school offered honors/AP wise, and I passed 5 of the 7 AP tests I took.

ACT=32 (2120-2140 converted to SAT)

730 CR
690 Math
720 Writing

Average ECs, definitely nothing special.

I chose Pepperdine over UCSD and UCSB’s honors program because of an academic scholarship (Deans Scholarship) they offered me that put it, cost-wise, on par with UCSD/SB.

The assurance of small class sizes was the determining factor (other than the scholarship).

I hope this helped.

ACT - 29
Class rank: 1 of 50
GPA 4.0

5/6 EC-held leadership spots as Sr.(i was able to stay activly involved because of small school)
Lots of Community Service

took all AP classes offered (only 2 tho) so took college classes at community college jr/sr year to stay competitive

I think they look at the quality of your EC and Community service. Better to have 2 or 3 things that you are fully committed to than 10 things you hardly help with.

boarderbry - can u list your stats out of community college
