News of the grant was first announced over the weekend by U.S. Ambassador to Kenya Jonathan S. Gration at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the school. The expansion of the school effectively doubles its size with 22 new classrooms. Called the Kiberia School for Girls, the school is the first tuition-free school for girls in the community.
