News about merit aid?

My daughter was accepted to Davidson but there is nothing on her portal about merit aid. She hasn’t received anything in the mail. Has anyone heard if they’ve received a merit scholarship? Davidson lists many on their website from special competition ones to more general. It seems like they give a lot out. Hope good news follows the admissions decision.

I doubt people will be notified whether or not they received merit aid until after Davidson’s Scholar Weekend for people who received finalist notifications. So I’m going to assume the FA for those that do get merit aid will be coming out next weekend (after April 1st ish) Just my rough estimate.

Thanks, @Mehdiocre I didn’t know about the Scholar Weekend. Is it this weekend? Do you know which scholarships the weekend is for - Belk? Presidential? - and how many were invited? Since my daughter wasn’t invited, does she still have a shot at merit?

For me, it’s March 31st - April 2nd (4/2 is one of the Decision Davidson days). I’m not sure how many people were invited though; also, I think Belk scholarship people were notified of semifinalist in early february, and then notified of finalist status in late february.

I just came across this other thread where the OP mentions having received a presidential merit scholarship from Davidson. It seems that some merit scholarships been sent to accepted applicants. Has anyone else received merit info? I knew my daughter wouldn’t necessarily be considered for the big scholarships but we were hoping that she had a chance at the smaller, general scholarships.

@Mehdiocre Just wondering how your weekend at Davidson went and if you’ve heard if you received a merit scholarship. My daughter phoned last week and was told that information about merit would be mailed by May 1st which seems very late.

@scholardad Went well, seems like there were people that were there that had already received scholarships and also people that were competing for a few. The scholarship events ended on Friday, Decision Davidson ended on Saturday, and I was notified of my merit scholarship award on Monday morning.
