<p>hungryhippo: Not every application is read equally in-depth. They don’t read incomplete applications, and then there’s a separate pile for those with low GPA/scores, etc…</p>
<p>The average amount of time spent on an app is ~15 minutes.</p>

<p>It’s strange that the BDH article celebrates how many black students the university admitted in the lead of the article, placed in such a way to represent what the writer believes to be essentially the most important fact pertaining to the early decision admissions process, after the overall numbers. I would hope that higher SAT scores or superior academic accomplishments are more important to the admissions office than “80% more black students” accepted. It also seems sort of shallow to overtly categorize accepted students by race. Perhaps the article’s author just sees things differently than I…</p>
