News from USC Thornton School of Music

<p>Thornton student, Melody Chang, has won first prize at the Hong Kong International Violin Competition.</p>

<p>Midori Oto, chair of the Thornton Strings Department, is celebrating her 30th year as a performer. She holds the Jascha Heifetz Chair in Violin at Thornton and is a Fellow of the AAAS.</p>

<p>Sunny Yang, who received her MM at Thornton, will be the newest member of the Kronos Quartet. She was a student of the famous cellist, Ralph Kirshbaum.</p>

<p>The Calder Quartet, all Thornton alumni, has their photo on the cover of STRAD magazine.</p>

<p>Faculty member, Stephen Hartke, and alumnus, Michael Tilson Thomas, were awarded Grammys at the recent award ceremonies.</p>
