News release from Harvard on Class of 2009

As many of you know, pcessly (under this screen name as well as several predecessor screen names that have been banned from the site) has been posting the same garbage over and over and over again for months. Until the pcessly screen name also gets banned, I would suggest simply not responding to any pcessly post.

what were the "predecessor" screen names?

I don't know that I remember them all, but they include alphacdcd, veritas160, nonsibi, TerrIntl, and forwomen86.

pcessly did you or do you go to andover or exeter? i would think that someone who went to either would know better.

Well, let's see... the previous names are too numerous to remember them all. There was alphacdcd, veritas160, ashligee, marla0100, terrintl, nonsibi, forwomen86, and I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

This troll is easy to spot because to compose his posts he mixes and matches among only a very few limited themes:

Harvard = Bad

Princeton = Good

Yale = Good when compared to Harvard; Yale = Bad when compared to Princeton

Larry Summers is Evil incarnate

Any poll that ranks Princeton highly = Good and Highly Scientific

Any poll that ranks Harvard poorly = Totally Wonderful

Any poll that does both must have come directly from God to have so much Truth in one place

Any poll that does neither is badly flawed and basically worthless

Stick to the merits guys. Don't be so insecure.

I hope you are not suggesting we ban from discussion the 3 largest and most reputable college undergraduate, ranking publications (US News, PR and the Atlantic Monthly) in order to pursue a yield fomula that has been discarded as flawed.

I also hope that you're not suggesting we refrain from discussing reputable national survey publications which rate different parts of academia.

The rankings and surveys I have put forth are unbiased and national. They are produced by companies that are well staffed and well funded. This is their business. Sometimes it is easy to draw inferences from these rankings or surveys, sometimes it is not. Rather than spending time attacking the publications and those that try and make sense of them, I would encourage you to embrace them so that we can all engage in fruitful discussion (without personal attacks).

And the trolling content really drags down the reputation of the school(s) recommended by the troll.

Just step around his posts, as if they were dog droppings on the sidewalk.

EDIT: his posts seem to have been deleted.

haha they indeed are gone

He has taken his act over to "the other place", where he spent the day posting the PR and Atlantic Monthly "selectivity" rankings!

what is "the other place?"

My lips are sealed!

ha ha, byerly you are so much fun

I have enjoyed reading your posts this year

I seem to be left out, could somebody pm me the name of the "other place"

this secrecy sort of seems like we are in East Germany and talking about escaping to the "other place" lol

sempitern555 pm it to me when you find out. im just as curious.

The "other place" is either the PR boards or that xoxo site. I doubt the mods like us talking about them, which is probably why Byerly is being so clandestine.

Yeah, let's just respect the fine place we have here at CC to discuss college admissions issues by not giving free advertising to the second-rate competition. ;) They can have the trolls.
