Rumor has it that there have been a record breaking number of apps this year, and acceptance rates will drop well below 20%. Don't want to freak you out... good luck all.

I heard that Early Decision apps were up more than 40%.

Glad I went EDI

Yea, ED went up 40%, I'd imagine RD will too.

Just to clarify... I'd heard RD apps were up a lot.

where does everyone get this information? i imagine apps would be up because newsweek featured swarthmore in their latest issue and it's still for sale.

sorry, not newsweeks latest weekly, but rather their hot colleges issue

inside sources. Could possibly be attributable to the Newsweek article, or the publicity campaign with the cool new flier (what did you all think of it?)

When I called Suzi Nam she said there was a 44% rise in applicants ED1 from last year, that's how I found out. I don't know anything specific about RD though.

That's not very encouraging for next year's applicants... makes me wish I could apply ED without worrying about financial aid. (I'm the least desirable type of applicant: a white int'l who needs money. No one wants that.) :(
