I think private has nothing to do with it. Why should a private student get perks when they benefit the college no differently than a public school?

maybe Penn calls CG:
1. to announce the good news
2. to verify your ECs
3. to get to know the boarderline applicant better in order to make a final decision

When you pay 20,000 per year for your schooling, there has to be perks!

the 20k doesnt go to penn so why in the hell should they care how much you spend on your high school education unless the school is paying penn to tell them. It just makes no sense

If you go to a private school and pay 20k, the education SHOULD (or better be) be a hell lot better then what you can get at a public school.

NOT IN KC most dont even offer AP

Why do you go to a private school and pay 20K when it doesnt offer APs?

Cuz its in Kansas man...

Oh and i can confirm that my GC has gotten calls from Penn in the past week. He just informed us that they called though. Nothing given away... except for a quirky smile.

It was something like:

Hey Guys! Penn just called
OHHHH COOL!... wait wait waiting...
Yea that's all i wanted to say. Go bak to class =)
... kthx.

Often, the private school has a better curriculum than that of AP. Plus, the private school curriculum wouldn't confine the teacher/students to a single test, allowing for greater freedom and flexibility.

to be quite honest, i think it makes perfect sense that a private school's gc would have better contact with people in admission's than those at average public schools. at my school, most (i think all but maybe 2 out of 9) gc's worked on top university (i.e. penn, columbia, stanford) adcoms. also, many private schools act as sort of feeder schools to top universities, which also helps to build strong connections.

Your right its Kansas. There are 2 private high schools here without religious affiliation. Neither offer ap or ib any longer due to their budget

I go to an expensive private school that doesn't offer APs.
The reason is mainly because the environment is much better than that of my local public school. The discipline is much more strict at my school, whereas at my public school, most kids don't care in the least about academics and show up drunk or high to class.

I live in a very nice neighborhood. my highschool is ranked in the top 100 best highschools in the country it just depends where you live.

thank you guys. See, I wasn't "making up stuff."

seriously some people just like to attack without even thinking.

this is why rohan and i get no sleep

Overland Park PennHunter?;)

pennhunter, do wha?

o nothing its just somthing i said because you said somthing on my other thread (i cant sleep).
yes its overland park the op not the oc

does anyone in the nj area know if their gc got a phonecall from penn yet?

i really raelly really want to ask my gc but im too afraid...
besides, i dont think she even knows im her kid...

I'm in NJ. I know that my GC had contact with Penn. I go to a fancy private school.
