Newspaper Article in Additional Info?

So, I'm currently putting the finishing touches on my app for Penn ED, and I had a question for the knowledgeable CC community.

I lived in Turkey when I was in 8th grade (my comman app essay is about my experience), and while I was there I kept a blog. My mom wrote an article about this blog that was published in the Washington Post. It's about 3 pages long in word document. It's a cool article that I think says a lot about me, but would it be worth sending it in my additional info in addition to a resume with activities not listed in the activities section (telling Penn I was the first person to take AP Euro as a sophomore in the history of my school, additional clubs, etc.) OR should I just take the resume out all together and just give the article OR should I just leave the resume and disregard the article. What would annoy/impress the committee the most?

If you stuck with me all the way through that lengthly post, thank you! Please give me your input, I really have no idea what to do.

And if it means anything, I’m applying to CAS.

Since the article is ABOUT you and not BY you, I wouldn’t list it. Since I’ve written articles for publications, I put those in my additional information – but since your mom wrote it, don’t list in on your resume (even if it’s a good article). Plus, sending an article is just extra paper they don’t need.

However, having a blog that’s widely read is relatively impressive, so if you have stuck with that since 8th grade (and have a considerable following), I would definitely put that somewhere.

I would talk about it and include a web link. That way you’re not including such a long document in your application, but it is available to them if they want to see it. I think there is a decent chance they will follow the link and might find it interesting and in your favor.
