How about "hottest for putting you on a waitlist (after they see you also applied to an ivy)"... WUSTL

Ehh..I would have guessed Columbia

it's mentioned along with harvard under "hottest for rejecting you"

Some of these were just GIVENS. Couldn't Newsweek just do a yearly hot list of different schools that people might not have heard of? It's a better use of a list. And I'm not talking about a ranking system, but just a nice shout-out to the lesser known schools.

Come on, everyone knows that Harvard's a long shot for almost everyone. Why bother reporting the obvious????

im lookin for a college right on the water somewhere on the east coast .... any suggestions?

Davidson. They even have a water skiing team that competes. Not kidding. Its on Lake Norman about 20 miles north of Charlotte NC.

But its highly selective and very small.

Another choice is UNC-Wilmington, a highly respected school that is part of the UNC system....regarded as the second best I think, and its right on the beach and has a very respected Marine Biology program.

RE: "What is Babson anyways..."

You must not be turned into business education. Babson is the best school for people interested in starting their own business....also Roger Babson, the school's namesake, was the only person to accurately predict the 1929 stock market crash.

thanks so much... if u have any more i should look at that would be great.. thanks again

Newsweek publishes this quite often, as do many other magazines. I'm interested in what they have to say, but obviously other sources should be used in deciding what school to attend...

:D
midnight

To wranger1: How about St. Mary's College in Maryland? It sits right on the Chesapeake and has an amazing sailing program.

Also Florida Institute of Technology is in Melbourne and has an excellent maritine studies program.

But if you can hack the military the USNA is in Annapolis and also sits on the Chesapeake. I am a Navy Vet and its special to me, though I did not go there.

And the US Merchant Marine Academy in New York sits on the water.
And in New London Connecticut is the Coast Guard Academy.

Citadel is in Charleston and very near the water. College of Charleston is in downtown Charleston and essentially on the water. Both excellent schools.

It all depends on what you want to study and what you want to do with your life and what kind of lifestyle you want.

awsome thanks for helpin out.... im kinda lookin to major in business so i dono its hard for me not to be on the water tho and i want to stay on the east coast and someplace warm... i have been checkin out all the colleges you guys are posting and my sister goes to college of charlston and she loves it. so thanks for the help dont be afraid to keep them coming :)

that was a pretty interesting article- but to say the average gpa of florida freshman is basically a 4.0 is just stupid- it means nothing since gpa's are different for many high schools and a 4.0 is easier in some than other places..i am not putting down florida at all- but that stat makes it look like an ivy

Haha I like the comment about Madison. I have a lot of friends there who love it.
