Newsweek ranks the World's Top 100 Global Universities

I am satisfied with those rankings

Same here. Especially the Top 10 US School list is exactly same as my world-class school list except Caltech (which is too small for my taste to be included in my list).

[post]2383115[/post]

Yes, they called me beforehand to verify their list ;)

Damn, U beast Rabban, u scary good

when do the new usnews rankings come out?

ps. these 'global' rankings are absolutely ridiculous and utterly flawed.

What'd you expect? This is a ranking of "world" and "global" universities ... unless you interpret "world" in the same category as in "world series" or "world championship"...

[/quote]

LOL. and the "world cup" doesnt mean much to us either ;)

No, these rankings are just as good as US News. Just because US News ranks your college higher doesn't mean its a better system. US News also doesn't seem to take quality of education into consideration.

Look at the research contributions these universities have provided and you'll see why UCSF is ranked higher then Dartmouth.

Btw: This is also a pretty good indication of how famous these colleges are around the world. Berkeley for example is much more famous then people give it credit for in the USA. Its international fame is only surpassed by Harvard. Of course people complain that Berkeley has a bad undergrad experience but that isn't factored in.

Guys- this is for UNIVERSITIES not COLLEGES. So graduate work is what's being looked at, not undergrad. UCSF doesn't even have an undergrad school!

Where the hell did UCSF come from?

No. I think one would hear Stanford and Yale mentioned before Berkeley, at least.

lol wow thank you for that website

So what UCSF is the premiere medical university of the world? I've just never heard much a/b it so it seems very out of place.

cool how "the most global" correlates really highly with "most prestigious" and "best overall"

LOL....I thought Washu kinda got played at first, not because of its ranking, but because of some of the other schools placed ahead of it. However after looking at the rankings given to what some may consider similar schools (Emory, Carnegie Mellon, Vanderbilt, Brown)...I realized it could be much worse

UCSF is ranked 4th in medical schools according to USNews, so yeah, it's pretty good...

Oh woops, didn't see that this list is produced by Newsweek lol.

Agree^^

Removing non-US schools & UCSF medical school, I find the list really captures the snapshot of top US schools. So now may I present top 14 elite schools in US (drum roll please)

They are:

1.Harvard University
2. Stanford University
3. Yale University
4. California Institute of Technology
5. University of California at Berkeley
7. Massachusetts Institute Technology
10. Columbia University
11. University of Michigan at Ann Arbor
12. University of California at Los Angeles
13. University of Pennsylvania
14. Duke University
15. Princeton Universitty
19. Cornell University
20. University of Chicago

Looks like a pretty good list

Yale should not rank as a better "university" (as opposed to "college") than Berkeley or MIT.

So people in other countries can be wowed by your brand-name education, too? Who gives a f***? Prove yourself; if you can't, your college name won't get you anywhere.

that's right alice grab life by the crotch!

I am seriously saddened that UChicago is considered #20...#1 in Economics people come on!
